Samsung has replaced its entry-level NX2000 camera with the new NX3000 that was announced just this week. The new device comes bundled with a 20.3-megapixel APS-sensor, a flip-up and a 3-inch LCD.

The camera is a budget alternative to photo enthusiasts who love to pose for selfies. The new flip-up LCD screen will facilitate this operation, just like the newly announced NX mini camera.

Flipping the LCD will prompt the camera to automatically turn on, so you won’t have to search for the power button when trying to capture the moment.

Samsung also re-added some physical buttons, so you won’t have to rely only on touchscreen controls like with the NX2000. The NX3000 3-inch display has a 320 x 480 pixel resolution.

Given the popularity of selfies today and the affordable price tag, the camera will probably attract a lot of customers its way.

Moving on, the NX3000 is equipped with Wi-Fi and passive NFC capabilities in order to make photo transfer easier. Users will also be able to control the power zoom lens via the dedicated app or use the physical buttons located on the side of the lens.

Other connectivity options include HDMI-out, microSD/SDHC/SDXC card slot and hot shoe which comes in handy if you want to attach the small included flash or so.

Moving on, the NX3000 is powered by a 2,330-mAh battery, which is an important increase from the predecessors. Samsung says the battery will last users enough for taking 370 photos or shooting 185 minutes of videos.

Something perspective customers should consider before purchasing the new NX3000 is that the camera offers only contrast-detection autofocus, so you won’t find the phase-detection autofocus present in cameras like the NX30.

The NX3000 supports light sensitivity between ISO 100 and ISO 25,600. Another aspect to take into account is that the NX3000 is the slowest camera in the NX family, offering shutter speeds of 1/4,000 seconds and continuous shooting of up to 5 frames per second.

Anyway, if you’re not looking to reach action photography quality, the NX3000 could still be a good match for you, especially due to price. Interested customers should know the new Samsung camera would become available June 1 with a choice of black, white or brown colors and faux-leather design.

The camera comes with a 16-50mm optical image stabilized (OIS) power zoom lens, a bundle which sells for $529 / €382. On the other hand, there’s the option of going for a 20-50mm zoom lens, which will take you back with $479 / €346. Both bundles arrive with an external SEF-8 flash.
