It relies on a 20.3-megapixel image sensor and Wi-Fi support

It seems like every other photo and video capture device nowadays gets wireless support, but we suppose it was inevitable now that social networking is so widespread. Soon enough, all of them will have Wi-Fi by default.

The item we have in our sights now is called NX2000 and is a compact interchangeable lens camera for everyone, from professionals to people who take photos as a hobby.

It is the latest addition to the expansive NX family and is actually superior, performance- and quality-wise, to many others.

True, the 20.3-megapixel image sensor is not the best in the pond, but it is a few leagues ahead of the so-called “standard” 16 MP and the entry-level sensors.

Since we're on the subject of specifications, we may as well list the primary assets.

First off, the ISO range is of 100 to 25,600. That means that light sensitivity can be adjusted to take pictures in both very bright environments and during the night as well.

A second feature is the 1/4000 shutter speed. It is a very fast speed, enough to take rapid-fire shots of sports and action scenes.

Continuous burst shooting is available as well, at a rate of 8 frames per second (8 fps).

A third noteworthy trait of the Samsung NX2000 is the 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen (wide VGA, 800 x 480 pixels), with a SMART mode that provides aids and scene modes.

Other things include a mode dial at the top, three buttons at the back (video recording, shot reviewing, return to home screen), modes like “Best Face” (takes 5 quick photos to let people choose which captures the facial expression best), NFC (near-field communications), and many storing and sharing options for the stored files.

Speaking of which, Samsung NX2000 can be accessed by smartphones and tablets thanks to the Samsung Smart Camera app (iOS and Android).

Sales are underway, in black, pink and white. The NX2000 has a price of $649.99 / €493.46 – 649.99. Customers will have to buy one of the 12 supported interchangeable lenses separately. There is even a 45mm 3D lens (videos can be played on 3D TVs afterwards).
