Samsung is expected to hold a press event on September 15 on the grounds at Photokina, and one of the products we will see come out of the Korean company is the Samsung NX1 mirrorless camera.

We knew this day would come, but until last week we were pretty much in the dark about the specs of the device. However, not so long ago we found out that Samsung NX1 would arrive with an amazing AF system and would be targeted at professional users.

Well, this week brings us more information about the upcoming device. A highly trusted source has talked to Mirrorless Rumors and revealed more info about the new upcoming device. And this time we are able to provide you with numbers, not just words like “advanced” or “amazing.”

So, the Samsung NX1 will arrive with a 28MP APS-C sensor (which is said to be the best on the market yet) and 154 cross type autofocus points. The camera will take advantage of phase detection of pixels on sensor and be able to shoot more than 10fps per second.

The camera will arrive with a full HD EVF (once again said to be the best on the market), a weatherproof body and a modern design reminiscent of the Panasonic GH4.

Earlier rumors claimed the new mirrorless would arrive boasting a design similar to the Mamiya 6, but it appears this is not the case.

Contrary to some rumors that have been spread around, the new NX1 won’t be running Tizen OS, so Samsung will continue its line of Android-enhanced cameras.

Again, the source doesn't mention anything related to whether the NX1 will arrive with 4K capabilities or not. This rumor surfaced back in May, but since then we haven't heard anything else related to the matter.

However, given the Panasonic GH4 reference (albeit the source talks about design and nothing more) we can’t help but wonder whether Samsung might surprise us here. The Panasonic GH4 is a 4K-ready camera which currently sells for $1,697 / €1,291 from Amazon.

Keep this information in mind, as the source familiar with the matter says the Samsung NX1 will be marketed for €1,499 / $1,904 (will probably have a lower price tag when it arrives in the US).

The price tags are quite comparable, so there you go. We think there’s still a chance to see the NX1 arrive with 4K.

Also keep in mind that Samsung is expected to pull the veil off the NX 50-150mm f/2.8 OIS STM splash- and dust-proof lens.
