We haven’t talked about Samsung’s upcoming NX1 mirrorless camera in quite a while now. The camera was tipped to be unveiled at Photokina 2014 and so far we don’t have any reason to believe this will no longer be the case.

Especially since a new batch of rumors has arrived upon us to shed some light on the specs of the upcoming shooter.

A trusted DPReview user, known to have revealed accurate information in the past has once again stepped forward in order to reveal some tidbits.

For starters, the new flagship will not be aimed at “light users” but at “professionals/advanced users” instead.

The source is also providing us with a bunch of extra details, some of which we already knew. So the NX1 will be a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera based on the company’s second-gen Phase Detection Autofocus technology.

Like we told you in the past, the major selling point of the upcoming flagship will be its extraordinary AF performance, which is said to be the best in its class.

But that’s not all, the NX1 could also surprise us with the best electronic viewfinder, but the source is not 100% sure this information is truly accurate.

On top of that, we’re being told the NX1 will arrive with a new and shiny image sensor and image processor, to top everything. This mix of technologies is expected to bump things up considerably so professional photographers won’t have anything to complain about.

The source also talks about the visual characteristics of the upcoming mirrorless unit. At some point, it was claimed the camera will come boasting a design similar to that of Mamiya 6, but this appears not to be the case. According to the latest additions, the shooter will arrive with a retro style design.

Sadly, one aspect has been left out entirely. Back in May word surfaced that the NX1 mirrorless will bring about 4K video recording capabilities, but this source mentions nothing of the sort.

So should we forget about this aspect? Given the fact that the shooter is said to be targeted at professional photographers, we think there’s still a chance to see the NX1 arrive 4K-ready.

It's also important to point out that Samsung is also expected to announce the NX 50-150mm f/2.8 OIS STM splash and dust proof lens.

While we wait on the NX1, we are taking an opportunity to remind of one of Sammy’s latest mirrorless cameras – the NX3000 which comes with a 20.3MP APS sensor, a flip-up 3-inch LCD boasting 320 x 480 pixel resolution. You can pick up this product from retailers like Amazon.
