Samsung might walk in Leica's footsteps

There’s a certain theory about black and white photography. It appears that in order to capture a better monochrome image, one is supposed to capture the image first in color, before converting it to black and white in a post-processing software like Lightroom.

The idea behind this technique is that color photos offer a wider degree of tones that will make black and white photos look a lot much better.

However, certain manufacturers consider there’s still a demand for black and white cameras. Leica has done this with its Monochrom and is appears that Samsung is looking to join in the party.

According to Photo Rumors, it seems the Korean tech giant plans to unleash a new NX camera into the wild, called the NX Achromatic.

The shooter will be a variation of the Samsung NX300 and will take advantage of the same 20MP sensor found in the camera. However, this model won’t have a low pass filter and will arrive with a full metal body.

In related news, Samsung is also expected to launch two NX400 cameras with the same 20MP sensor that will be capable of 4K recording.

But Samsung isn’t expected to make any major announcement for the next six months, so don’t get your hopes up that you’ll see the monochrome camera too soon.
