It looks that, even in the midst of new laptop, tablet and smartphone announcements, Samsung still had more than enough time to develop several new lines of large displays, one of which is the HE Series.

Setting aside thought of small or regular monitors and TVs, Samsung decided to provide the commercial market with some much bigger and specialized products.

Thus it was the the HE Series of LED-backlit liquid crystal displays (LCDs) was developed, with full support for Full HD image quality.

In other words, their native resolution is of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, something that no longer comes across as in any way surprising nowadays.

That said, the newcomers have sizes of 40 and 46 inches, respectively, and feature a contrast ratio of 5,000:1, plus viewing angles of 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically.

Other specifications include a thin bezel (13.7 mm) and a pair of 10W speakers built into the frame, plus integrated TV tuner.

For the most part, the HE40A (priced at $1,051) and the HE46A ($1,402) should end up in small business locations like medical offices, or in lobbies, among other things, as long as they aren't overworked or intended to have them running constantly for very long times.

It is the ME, UE and UD lines that have increasingly higher specifications, making them more suited for things up to mission-critical videowalls). Sales will start in the third quarter.

“Samsung is building on a category we created at InfoComm 2010 by increasing the number of LED/ LCD solutions for many commercial user scenarios,” said Kevin Schroll, product manager of commercial display Samsung Enterprise Business Division.

“Organizations need display solutions which not only offer superior image quality but are also flexible enough to work in almost any environment. LED/LCDs work for everyone, from the small business owner to retail spaces and mission-critical applications.”
