At the Samsung Global Road Show, an event that took place in New York, Samsung launched a portable media player, the YM-PD1. The device is fitted with a 4-inch TFT display and a 30GB hard disk. YM-PD1 is specifically designed for users who travel a lot and want to be able to watch movies in their travels.

YM-PD1 is also fitted with a DMB receiver. The DMB standard represents a video version of DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), which is used in Europe to send radio signal. Samsung and LG back DMB, and the only countries currently offering TV shows in this format are Japan and South Korea. The device also has a TV-out connector, which means that YM-PD1 can transmit data to the TV set.

Samsung didn't give any details about the countries where this media player will be launched or about its price.

During the Road Show Samsung also presented a 40-inch OLED TV set, a Blu-Ray recorder with HDTV receiver, several cell phone models and laser color printers.
