Samsung has just announced the immediate availability of its new Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) and (10.1) tablets in UAE. Both slates can now be purchased through leading authorized retailers across the country.

In fact, the South Korean handset maker introduced all Galaxy Tab 2 series in UAE, including 3G and Wi-Fi versions of both models.

Aside from the affordable price, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab 2 slates in order to bring Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system to its fans faster than it would be able to update its older Galaxy Tab devices.

It might sound that Samsung is forcing customers to replace their older Galaxy Tab slates and purchase the new ones that run Google's latest Ice Cream Sandwich platform, but that's really what all the other handset manufacturers are doing right now.

There are no hardware configuration differences between the Galaxy Tab 2 series and the original Galaxy Tab slates, except maybe the processors that are manufactured by Texas Instruments and Nvidia, respectively.

Other than that and a few design tweaks, there's nothing really different between the two models. This is probably why Samsung decided to offer the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) for only $250 USD (195 EUR) in the US.

Unfortunately, Samsung did not unveil any details on Galaxy Tab 2 series prices in the UAE, but we expect the tablets to be a bit more expensive.

With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 series, we aim to expand the choice of tablets for our consumers. Our current tablet portfolio includes products with variations in sizes, hardware and features. The Galaxy Tab 2 series is an ideal choice for consumers seeking a tablet that provides a complete multimedia experience whilst ensuring a solid performance in a compact form factor,” said Mr. Ashraf Fawakherji, general manager of Telecommunication Group at Samsung Gulf Electronics.
