Taking advantage of a small technology to achieve big purposes

While at CeBIT we see all of the new technologies, gadgets and computer products, Samsung doesn't part farther from this line. A lot of new products from this company are being showcased on the trade fair, and their 30-inch SuncMaster XL30 is just one of these.

Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) have recently been a subject of interest since the development of brighter, more powerful LEDs. This technology is set to replace the neon based backlighting used on current LCD monitors. The usage of LEDs as the lighting method on Samsung's monitor has increased color production to 123%, compared to a normal LCD monitor. And it's also an environmentally friendly monitor due to the lack of mercury and halogen from the manufacturing process, LEDs being based on semiconductors similar to the ones used in microprocessors.

But Samsung has also released two new monitors, the SyncMaster 961BG and 961GW high gloss black monitors. These feature a 3000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time. Viewing angle goes up to 170 degrees, and a couple of other "goodies" are brought by the MagicRotation technology through which the screen is automatically rotated according to the position of the text, and the MagicTune technology which allows for seamless adjusting of brightness, contrast and resolution.

All of these new products brought by Samsung at CeBIT are demonstrating that there is room for a lot of innovation, and reminding the world of consumer electronics that they are still alive and kicking. The company's name is mainly associated with memory modules and manufacturing semiconductors as on that particular market, they have an established name and have been there for over 13 years. Not exactly a big surprise that they have mentioned that the entire range of LCD monitors they produce will undergo a major transformation and all of these products will use LED backlighting in the near future.
