14 DAY TRIAL // Unveiled earlier this month, the Samsung Illusion may be on track for a November 23 release at Verizon Wireless. Given the fact that Galaxy Nexus' launch date was pushed back, the carrier decided to go live with the Illusion.
According to the folks over at Droid-Life who got their hands on an internal document, the Samsung Illusion will be available on November 23 via Direct Fulfillment. In addition, the smartphone will be available in store beginning January 12, 2012.
Make no mistake, the Illusion is not the Galaxy Nexus, instead it comes with Nexus S' unique curved glass display. It measures 114.4 x 59.9 x 11.7mm and weighs around 120g (battery included).
Currently, there's no word on the phone's price tag, but this is a budget-friendly Android-powered device, so it should be priced accordingly.
It is also worth mentioning that the Samsung Illusion will be Verizon exclusive, so other carriers won't be adding this one to their portfolios for a while.
“The Samsung Illusion has both brain and beauty beginning with the power and performance of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform,” Verizon claims.
Aside Gingerbread, the Illusion runs Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz user interface, possibly the latest version. Android Market is provided as well, so users can further customize their phones via more than 300,000 apps.
Furthermore, the Illusion sports a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 16 million colors and 320 x 480 pixels resolution.
On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1 GHz single core Samsung Hummingbird processor and packs 2 GB onboard memory, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).
There's also a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features video recording capabilities. The phone comes pre-loaded with lots of services, including V CAST Manger, V CAST Music, VZ Navigator, V Cast Tones, and more.
