Samsung Electronics took the covers of their brand new, shiny optical drives and it seems that they've not only worked on the performance part of the drives, but also a little bit at their design, one of its drives being seen as the new PS3 game console for that reason.

The first one is the Samsung SH-S203 Serial ATA optical drive which has the following features: it writes DVD+R, DVD-R at 20x, DVD+DL, DVD-DL, DVD-RAM at 12x, DVD+RW at 8x and DVD-RW at 6x. The second one is the Samsung SE-S204, an external optical drive with USB 2.0 connection, and with availability for this model starting from May.

Then there is the Samsung SE-B046, the PS3 looking external Blu-ray optical drive. It comes with both USB 2.0 and IEEE1394, or FireWire, connection. The last, but not least of these drives is the Samsung SH-B043. It can record BD-R media at 4x speed, while for the BD-RE runs at 2x. It can also read any BD-R, BD-RE media along side DVDs and CDs. This is done through the aid of two lenses and a two laser diode structure.

This model also supports the Spherical Aberration Compensation Technology and the Recision Step Control Technology, both topped by the eco-friendly RoHS compliant materials used in its manufacturing process. Samsung has had experience with about any domain which includes computer components and related technology. Survival on a market is done by maintaining diversity and grabbing hold of the buyers' attention through innovation and a well thought pricing strategy. As well as other big manufacturers, Samsung has made the necessary adjustments to make a big splash.
