Samsung U940, the North American version of Samsung F700, will be released by Verizon Wireless, as rumored at the beginning of the year. The folks over at the Howard Forums recently unveiled several new live pics with the Verizon-branded handset, which kind of blow away any doubts regarding the approaching release. Even more, the images show that Samsung Glyde is a really good-looking device. Which, in fact, we already knew.

Since it has been approved by the FCC back in December 2007, Glyde now only needs a release, to make happy the US mobile users that are waiting for it.

The handset is a dual-band CDMA one (800 / 1900 MHz) and besides being good-looking, it's also featured with lots of evolved functions. For example, it offers a 2.8 inch touchscreen display with a 240 x 440 pixels resolution, HSDPA for data transfer speeds of up to 7.6 Mbps, GPS and a a full QWERTY keyboard that will come in handy for users who need to send lots of messages and emails. Furthermore, the phone comes with the award-winning Croix interface, stereo Bluetooth, Video and Music players, Internet and email capabilities, 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB, 150MB of internal memory and microSD card support.

The phone's camera performances are not sure for the moment. We know that Samsung F700, a handset we saw live last week at the 2008 edition of CeBIT, has a 3.15 Megapixel camera, but rumors say the U940 Glyde will only come with a 2 Megapixel one. We'll wait and see.

Samsung U940 Glyde will probably come for about $500, and less if bought with a Verizon data plan. A release date was not announced, but we should hope the phone will be available at the end of March, as everyone expects.
