Some users are complaining they cannot charge their devices

As was expected before the event, Google I/O keynote was the scene onto which the first two Android Wear equipped smartwatches first appeared, in the form of the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live.

Those hoping to see the Moto 360 be unveiled were out of luck, as Google said the beautiful curvaceous smartwatch would become available for purchase later this summer.

Anyway, the lucky people present at the event in San Francisco were awarded with a pretty nifty gift. They were given the chance to pick either the LG G Watch or the Samsung Gear Live to take home, free of charge.

Well, as you smartwatch fans might already know, the Samsung Gear Live has only been made available for pre-order, meaning it hasn't reached mass consumers yet. Given that Google offered these gifts, some items are already present in the wild.

But surprisingly enough, these early adopters of the Samsung watch are reporting the charging ports on the wearable stops working completely after a few recharges, leaving the device utterly useless.

In order to prove their claims, some of the people present at the Google I/O 2014 even shared a bunch of photos on Google+ (also here and here) showing the extent of the damage to the charging ports. The good news is that the affected parties appear not to be in large numbers.

Since a relatively small sample lot has been tainted with this issue, we should expect to hear more similar reports once the smartwatches start shipping out to parties.

On the other hand, Samsung could halt the sales until the issue is resolved. After all, complaining users believe the problem is caused by a design flaw in the watch.

For the time being, Samsung hasn't officially said anything about the issues, but it’s pretty odd since this is not the first smartwatch taking advantage of such a charging system, Sammy has put out so far.

Anyway, if the smartwatch goes mainstream and customers start reporting the same issues, Samsung will be forced to issue a drawback for the devices, which will bring about a lot of consumer satisfaction-related issues.

The budding Android Wear ecosystem appears to already be plagued by a number of annoyances.

Earlier today, we brought you news that paid Android Wear apps in the Google Play Store were unable to install on the smartwatches due to a bug. The beginning of the journey seems to be gloomy for Android Wear.
