We don’t know if the Samsung Gear 3 is the same with the Gear Solo, at the moment

It’s no secret that Samsung is working on yet another smartwatch. The IFA trade show is nearing at a face pace and the Korean tech giant will certainly be taking the opportunity to unveil a new device from the category during the event.

Where’s smoke, there’s fire. A new sources familiar with Samsung’s wearable projects has stepped forth and talked to PocketNow disclosing new information about the upcoming Gear 3.

The biggest difference compared to the current Gear 2 and Gear Live products, which are currently available on the market, is that the new smartwatch will boast a curved display, something quite distinct from what we see with the Gear Fit bracelet today.

The wearable will also come with a Super AMOLED display that will bring about “impressive brightness and color saturation,” but on a screen that small will it really make a difference of some sort?

So the display will be highly improved, according to the sources, but what about everything else?

Well, we can tell you that the Gear 3 won’t come equipped with the camera characteristics of the Gear 2. All we can say is, good riddance. The camera was quite awkward to use anyway, and thanks to it, the watch sold for a chunky price, which kept a lot of customers at bay.

Furthermore, there’s a slight possibility the Gear 3 will arrive with support for radio for cellular connectivity.

But the rumor mill was already talking about the Gear Solo, which is said to be Sammy’s first standalone watch to ever arrive on the market. The smartwatch is reportedly capable of allowing users to place phone calls right from their wrists and is expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy Note 4 in September.

So, could it be possible that the Gear Live is the same with the Gear 3? It could be, but at the moment we don’t have any info to back this speculation up.

On the other hand, Samsung might be looking to unveil two smartwatches: one with a curved display and cellular connectivity and one with a traditional screen and the same cellular connectivity. Does it make sense? Maybe.

Since the Moto 360 is expected to roll out during the same month, smartwatch makers are apprehensive that their efforts will be overthrown by the newcomer, so they are working hard to provide a fair alternative.

LG was also said to be launching the LG G Watch 2 during the IFA 2014 event, just two months after the first watch made into the wild.
