Samsung is pushing an update for its current smartwatch

After pushing out a firmware update for its original Galaxy Gear smartwatch, which obliterated Android as an OS and set up Tizen instead, Samsung is currently rolling out a new update for its latest Gear 2 smartwatch.

The update is only 20MB in size and will bump up your device’s software from version 2.2.1.1 to 2.2.1.2, reports SamMobile. There are a few key differences you’ll be noticing in case you decide to install the new build.

For example, now you’ll be able to take advantage of Blocking Mode, a feature that allows users to mute the notifications on the watch in case they don’t feel like being bugged by them.

Blocking Mode is something that can be active at all times or enabled only when the wearer is sleeping.

The new build also brings some overall improvements to S Health, conferring better stability levels, and it should be already available for download from Gear Manager.

So, if you have a Gear 2 smartwatch, go ahead and check your smartphone app to see if you can download the update.

In the meantime, I’ll remind you that Samsung’s purported Android Wear smartwatch has just been spotted passing through the FCC, so the Gear 2 might get a new cousin soon enough.
