Wireless carrier Sprint has made available for purchase on its airwaves a new, highly-appealing device running under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, namely the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The wireless carrier has added the new Android-based tablet PC on its airwaves at a price tag of $399.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement. The slate is available for purchase free f contract as well, case in which one would have to pay $599.99 for it.

The Galaxy Tab, the first Android-based slate from Samsung, was already released on the airwaves of T-Mobiel and Verizon earlier last week, and now is on sale at three of the largest operators in the country, with the fourth, AT&T, expected to release it on November 21st.

Based on Google's Android 2.2 operating system, the 7-inch tablet PC comes with a nice range of capabilities, being able to offer an enhanced experience to all users out there.

“This all-in-one 7-inch touchscreen device takes multitasking to the extreme. Read a book, listen to hot tracks, take a picture, video conference, watch a movie, email, post to Facebook or surf the Web, you can do it all-no desk required,” Sprint notes.

Beneath the screen, there is a 1GHz application processor powering the slate, complemented by 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Tab sports 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as dual cameras: a 3.2MP photo snapper on the back, complemented by a 1.3MP camera on the front, for video calling.

On top of that, the tablet PC comes with support for various Google services, including Gmail, Search, Maps, YouTube, and more, as well as for applications that can be downloaded and installed from the Android Market.

Some of the other features of this device include: Swype, TouchWiz 3.0, support for Flash 10.1, Chat-style messaging, Sprint TV, GPS Navigation, Email, Mobile Hotspot capabilities, and more.
