Samsung hasn't been very present in the tablet ecosystem, but its inactivity in the field won’t go on forever.

Actually, the rumor mill is hotly buzzing about a bunch of possible upcoming Samsung slates that have started making the first rounds online.

Samsung is apparently looking to roll out the Galaxy Tab 5 family, as well as introducing new Galaxy TabPRO and NotePRO models.

References about a possible Galaxy Tab S refresh (Samsung’s AMOLED slates) have also been unearthed, so there’s plenty to expect out of the company in the next few months.

Samsung is planning new GalaxyTab A, Galaxy Tab J and Galaxy Tab E tablets

Also, Samsung has recently unveiled smartphones from the Galaxy A, Galaxy J and Galaxy E families and now it appears it wants to try and categorize its tablets following the same lines.

According to Dutch website Galaxy Club, the tech behemoth has just applied for trademark the Galaxy Tab A, Galaxy Tab E and Galaxy Tab J device names.

Like in the case of the smartphones, the new design will probably come in various sizes and price categories but will bear naming schemes that will be a lot easier to remember.

The trademark application doesn't reveal anything about the actual tablets and at this point we can’t even be 100% sure the slates are actually the real deal.

However, given the path Samsung has taken with its smartphones, we shouldn't be surprised if the Tab A, Tab E and Tab J lineups go official one of these days.

At some point last year, Samsung talked about having high expectations for its tablet business. The Korean tech giant dreamed of being able to ship 40 million devices last year, but at this point we don’t know whether the company has managed to achieve that goal or not.

Is Samsung quietly prepping an assault for 2015?

One thing is for sure, in the last few months good old Sammy hasn't focused much on tablets. The last time we saw it do anything related to this category was at IFA 2014 in September, when the Galaxy Tab Active was launched.

This is actually a re-branded version of the Galaxy Tab 4 8-inch with rugged properties on top. Well, come 2015, Samsung is surely going to make a strong comeback on the tablet market.
