Mobile phone carrier Vodafone Australia has just started to sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1v tablet PC from Samsung, which is based on Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system.

The tablet PC was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in February, and comes to the market with a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a fast application processor.

The device came to the market as the result of a partnership between Samsung and Vodafone, and was followed by the release of a new 10.1-inch tablet from the company, one that sports a slimmer design.

The device was already on pre-order in Australia through Vodafone, and is now available through the carrier's stores as well.

“We are excited to announce that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v is now available to purchase in selected stores from today,” the company announced in a blog post.

“As a bonus, all customers that purchase the Galaxy Tab 10.1v will also receive a bonus gift with purchase, a genuine Samsung bookcase, the perfect accessory for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v.”

The special accessory would be a tablet Case that would ship to users in a matter of weeks following the purchase of a Galaxy Tab 10.1v.

“Your Free tablet Case is being sent separately to your Tab. You can expect delivery of your case up to 3 weeks after receiving their Galaxy,” the company announced.

The full list of stores that started selling the new tablet PC is available on the wireless carrier's website here.

As stated above, this is the first version of the device, released in collaboration with Vodafone, and said to be a limited edition.

It runs under an Android version specifically designed for tablet PCs, which sport larger screens, and offers support for a wide range of Google Mobile Services, as well as for applications available for download via the Android Market.
