Samsung is showing that it has as much of a taste for sports as it does for everything else, having created a new version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 media tablet.

Some people may or may not be aware of how the Korean Series Baseball Championship has just concluded, with the Lions as the winners.

Normally, this wouldn't concern those of us on the tech hemisphere, but Samsung made sure lots of people heard about it.

Only heard about it, it turns out, as the number of people who will actually get a hold of the physical means of celebrating the event will be much smaller.

150 people, to be more precise, will have a shot at buying the Lions special edition of Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The company didn't actually create a new tablet form scratch, of course, especially since it would have been more or less impossible to do so in such a short time.

Instead, it took the regular Galaxy Tab 10.1, aggrieved in court as it is, engraved it and put it in the same package as a Lions Kit and a ball.

D'light shops will start shipping the item at some point in the future and pre-orders will be open starting this week.

As a reminder, the 10.1-inch screen has a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels, two webcams, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and everything it needs for full HD support.

Obviously, the price will be somewhat higher than the $499 (479 Euro in Europe) sported by the standard device.

The other recent news about the tab was its adoption, by a certain store, to help with selling cosmetics.

For those who want more context, Samsung has been trying to get the device un-banned in Australia and Germany, so far without success.

It even managed to get the European Commission suspicious by trying to get Apple's iPhone 4S banned in turn. Read about that here.
