Samsung may have said that it plans to fight this lawsuit against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with everything it has, but this did not stop Vodafone UK from canceling the pre-orders it got for that particular device.

It looks like the consequences of a certain event that occurred recently is already making its effects felt.

Users that were looking forward to buy a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet will have to live with the disappointment of not getting the chance to do so, at least in Australia and Europe.

Not long ago, it was revealed that Apple had been successful in the first stage of its legal actions against Samsung, in which it claims that the latter's tablet infringes on its intellectual property.

Basically, the product was banned in Europe, at least until Samsung manages to get its appeal in, something it is determined to see done.

Until that happens, however, things really have been put on hold, which means that carriers have had to reevaluate their options.

Though the ruling was given in a German court, it applies to all the member states of the European Union, which includes the United Kingdom.

Vodafone UK is one company that had received pre-orders for the Galaxy tab, and it looks like those orders have been canceled.

This might seem a bit too abrupt a choice, what with the injunction being preliminary and subject to possible lifting.

Unfortunately, there is just as real a chance that the injunction will last throughout this entire legal scuffle, months perhaps.

As such, Vodafone preemptively took measures to ensure the impact on its business and customers is minimum.

What remains is to see if Samsung succeeds in overturning the court's initial decision. If it does not, things may turn out the same way the Intel-NVIDIA fight over chipset rights did (it took too long and, thus, NVIDIA fell too far behind in development).
