Today, mobile phone carrier T-Mobile made available for purchase a new tablet PC on its airwaves, none other than the large Galaxy Tab 10.1 device from Samsung. Starting today, users interested in the purchase of this mobile device will have to head over to the wireless carrier's stores around the country to make a purchase.

The new device features a price tag of $399 (290 Euros) at the wireless carrier, after a $50 mail-in rebate. Users will have to commit to a new 2-year contract agreement on a qualifying Value plan.

“The sparkling 10.1-inch high-definition tablet screen brings games and movies to life; shows off incredible detail, color, and texture in photos and videos; and makes it easy to check email and read books and magazines,” the wireless carrier notes.

The new device packs a large 10.1" HD touchscreen display that can deliver a 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution, as well as a 1 GHz nVidia Tegra 2 dual-core mobile processor for increased performance capabilities.

Moreover, the new device features a 3-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash on the back, offering HD (720p) video recording capabilities to its customers, and a 2-megapixel camera for photos and video chat.

The tablet PC is capable of full HD video playback (1080p) on its screen, and also sports HDMI-out for full HD video playback (1080p) on an alternate monitor.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes with 16 GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and 3G connectivity capabilities, as well as Bluetooth 3.0. It packs A-GPS as well, along with a 7000 mAh battery for increased usage time.

“At just 1/3" thick and only 1.2 pounds, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is one of the lightest, thinnest Android-powered tablets on the market, and thinner and lighter than iPad 2. Wherever you’re headed, it slips easily into your bag. You’ll barely know it's there until you turn it on,” T-Mobile notes.
