The Galaxy S6 Edge’s insides are neat and tidy

Samsung’s newly announced flagship devices, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, mark an important change in the company’s design language.

The Korean tech giant finally listened to what customers had to say and renounced its plasticky ways in favor of building two flagships with a glass-and-metal construction. The result? The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge look mighty gorgeous, but good looks do come at a price.

To make the phones so pretty, Samsung had to cut some corners. So the company is no longer offering a removable back cover, a user-replaceable battery or a microSD card slot, but we guess you have to lose some to gain some, right?

Anyway, a few days ago, we saw the Samsung Galaxy S6 get torn apart piece by piece, revealing the fact that accessing the battery is not an easy task for the faint of heart, even if it’s doable.

Take a look inside the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

This week, the folks at iFixit have gotten their hands on the Galaxy S6 Edge and its curvaceous body, which they took apart meticulously and orderly.

In the case of the Galaxy S6 Edge, things seem to be pretty similar to what was found to define the Galaxy S6. The juice box of the beautiful handset is very hard to access due to the multiple layers of components, so you’d better not try this experiment at home with your own phone. Just leave it to the experts to poke the insides of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

iFixit awards a repairability score of 3 out of 10 to the “edgy” Galaxy S6, which is pretty bad. But not as bad as the HTC One M9, which also got torn apart a few days ago and received a reparability score of 2 out of 10. Ouch!

In the case of the HTC One M9, the battery was glued to the phone’s motherboard, and on the sides as well, making the process of removing it a really complicated task.

Anyway, going back to Samsung, we should remind you that the previous Galaxy S5 didn't prove much easier to repair either, despite having a removable battery. The problem was that the phone’s display had to be removed in order for anything else on the inside, except for the battery, to be accessible.
