14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung is moving closer and closer to the release of a smaller flavor of its Galaxy S5 smartphone, and some more confirmation on the matter appears to have emerged online, courtesy of GFXBench.
A certain Samsung SM-G800H has made an appearance in the benchmarking database with a 4.8-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, and it is believed to be indeed the Galaxy S5 mini.
Recently, the phone has been said to pack a 4.5-inch screen but, as PhoneArena notes, that display might actually prove to be too small for some. The handset might actually pack the larger 4.8 panel at launch.
The mobile phone has been rumored before to pack a similarly sized screen, falling nicely in line with Samsung’s other series of “mini” flavors of flagship handsets.
Said database entry also unveils that the upcoming device might land on shelves with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (Cortex A7 - ARMv7) quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, and that it would feature 1.5GB of RAM, just as previously rumored.
It would also feature Qualcomm Adreno 305 graphics inside, along with 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.
Moreover, the smartphone is expected to go official with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, which should also be capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, as well as with a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.
The usual set of sensors will also be included on the phone, said listing unveils, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS receiver.
The yet unannounced smartphone is also listed in GFXBench as running under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, which suggests that the latest flavor of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI might also be loaded on top of it.
Although no official confirmation on the existence of the Galaxy S5 mini has been provided as of now, the phone was spotted on Samsung’s own website yesterday, which suggests that it is indeed real.
According to SamMobile, however, the image might be fake, given the fact that the date on the screen is rather old, and that it does not hint at the announcement date, as most leaked press photos usually do.
One way or the other, it might not be too long before Samsung finally unveils the Galaxy S5 mini, and all the necessary details on its specs and looks will emerge at that time, so stay tuned.
