Samsung has become predictable and while this is not necessarily a bad thing, it makes the announcement of new products a formality given the fact that most details about its roadmap are well known.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom has probably surprised Samsung fans due to the fact that it was the first in the company’s lineup of camera phones. The successor will not take anyone by surprise though, so the recent leak that has the Galaxy S5 Zoom at the center is no major news.

However, those who plan on grabbing the unannounced smartphone as soon as it becomes available may want to know a few things before preparing to make their investment.

First of all, the Galaxy S5 Zoom seems to be in the process of being tested, as the smartphone has recently been spotted in AnTuTu benchmark, SamMobile reports.

The phone scored better than the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, but it’s understandable given the fact that it comes with improved hardware and newer software.

Codenamed Samsung SM-C115, the Galaxy S5 Zoom seems to sport a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

But the phone’s main selling point is the 20.2-megapixel monster camera on the back, which is capable of taking pictures with a maximum resolution of 5184 x 3888 pixels. The main camera comes with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), Xenon Flash, 10x optical zoom and autofocus.

We can safely assume that the smartphone will be capable of capturing full HD (1080p) videos, but it will be interesting to see if Samsung adds 4K video recording. The information hasn’t been confirmed yet, so take it as a pure speculation.

On the inside, Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom is said to be equipped with a Samsung Exynos Hexa (5260) chipset that packs ARM’s big.LITTLE HMP technology. The chipset should accommodate two 1.7GHz dual-core Cortex-A15 processors and four 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPUs.

In addition, the smartphone should also pack a quad-core ARM Mali-T624 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM. No word on the amount of storage, but the smartphone will surely come with microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Connectivity-wise, the Galaxy S5 Zoom will offer Wi-Fi, DLNA, IR blaster, NFC (Near Field Communication), Bluetooth and MicroUSB.

The Galaxy S5 Zoom will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box, along with Samsung’s TouchWiz UX on top. Lots of camera-related apps will be included as well. Stay tuned for more details on the phone’s price tag and availability.
