Starting today, mobile phone users in Canada can purchase two new versions of Samsung’s latest flagship Android-based smartphone, the Galaxy S5.

Last week, the handset vendor suggested that the phone would be released in the country in Copper Gold and Electric Blue flavors, and both of them have already landed on shelves out there.

As MobileSyrup notes, both of these models are available for purchase at only $229 (€154) with the signing of a two-year contract. However, users will also be able to grab the handset without signing up for a contract agreement, at $730 (€492).

For the time being, however, only TELUS is selling the smartphone, though other wireless carriers in the country are also expected to add it to their offering soon.

Rogers has already unveiled plans to make the move, despite the fact that it has not provided specific details on when that might happen.

Users in Canada were already able to purchase the smartphone in two other color versions, including Charcoal Black and Shimmery White, and will continue to do so.

The phone is available in these flavors at a great deal of wireless carriers, including Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Fido, Virgin Mobile, Koodo, MTS, Eastlink, SaskTel, Videotron, and Wind Mobile.

Those of you interested in grabbing the Galaxy S5 in either Copper Gold or Electric Blue should head over to this page on TELUS’ website for that.

The new handset models come with the same features and capabilities as the already existing variants, starting with the 5.1-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

Moreover, Galaxy S5 sports a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, along with 2GB of RAM, which should ensure great performance capabilities at all times.

The phone was made available with 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage space.

Samsung Galaxy S5 also packs a 16-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, as well as a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Moreover, it includes all of the usual connectivity capabilities, such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a microUSB port, along with a built-in GPS receiver, and the entire range of common sensors, along with a fingerprint scanner, and a heart rate monitor.

Galaxy S5 runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform, while also featuring the TouchWiz user interface on top, with a nice range of exclusive apps and capabilities coming from Samsung itself.
