14 DAY TRIAL // The mini version of Samsung Galaxy S5 ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system onboard, but that will soon change when the South Korean company decides to release a major update.
We reported back in February that Samsung France has confirmed the Galaxy S5 mini would be getting Android 5.0 Lollipop in the second quarter of 2015.
However, no exact release date has been given at that time, and even now after we got another confirmation that Android 5.0 Lollipop would be available for Samsung Galaxy S5 mini, we still don't know when it comes.
The new information comes from Samsung Denmark via YouMobile and confirms once again what we already knew, and that's the fact that Galaxy S5 mini will eventually be upgraded to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.
It might start coming early next month
Unfortunately, while there's no ETA confirmed for the release of the update, rumor has it that Samsung will kick off the Android 5.0 Lollipop roll-out in early June.
This means that Samsung Galaxy S5 mini owners have less than a month to wait for the update to arrive on their devices. Even if that happens, it will probably take more than a few weeks until Android 5.0 Lollipop gets delivered to all devices.
For those unaware, Android 5.0 Lollipop brings lots of new features and improvements. The most obvious are the visual enhancements that will be implemented after upgrading to Lollipop.
First of all, there's the new Material Design along with the brand-new TouchWiz UI. Also, improvements to Notifications system and Lockscreen will be included as well, along with lots of other performance enhancements and bug fixes.
Samsung Galaxy S5 mini owners should start checking for Android 5.0.1 Lollipop beginning next month, but until then stay tuned for more details on the update's exact release date.
