Several weeks ago, Samsung launched the enhanced version of its Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone. This improved variant of the device features LTE-A support and a better Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

Today, Phonearena reports that Samsung has introduced a similar version of Galaxy S4 Active in South Korea, though the smartphone may be launched in other countries as well.

Dubbed Samsung Galaxy S4 Active with LTE-A, the handset is exclusively available in South Korea via SK Telecom carrier in two-tone black.

Aside from the fact that it offers improved LTE-A support that allows for 150Mbps download speeds and up to 50Mbps upload speeds, the enhanced version of Samsung Galaxy S4 Active comes equipped with better processor and camera, as well as more storage.

It appears that the 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU has been dropped in favor of a much better Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz.

Although the smartphone packs the same 2GB of RAM, it provides no less than 32GB of internal memory, whereas the standard model only features 16GB. In addition, users will also be able to further expand storage up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

Another improvement is the main camera that has been upped from 8 megapixels to 13 megapixels. The 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls has been kept.

One may think that with all these improvements, the Galaxy S4 Active with LTE-A will be slightly larger and heavier than the standard model, but Samsung has managed to make it 4g lighter (147g, battery included).

The rest of the phone’s specs sheet remains the same, so expect the Galaxy S4 Active with LTE-A to be dust and water resistant (IP67 certified).

The 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating for extra protection. It’s also worth mentioning that the smartphone is powered by a high-capacity 2600 mAh Li-Ion battery.
