Cricket is one of the last US-based carriers to launch the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S III. The upgrade was pushed one day earlier at Verizon, while Cricket was rolling out the update for Galaxy S4 at the same time.

Samsung Galaxy S III owners at Cricket should probably check their smartphones for an update notification or they can go to Settings / About device / Software update / Update and hope that Android 4.3 is there.

According to AndroidPolice, this software version has been tagged with R530CVVUCMK3 codename and has no less than 570MB in size.

This is why we recommend Galaxy S III owners to download the update via Wi-Fi network in order to speed up the upgrade process.

It’s also important to back up all your information on the smartphone in order to avoid data loss. The update should preserve all the data, but if for some reason, the installation is stopped before it finishes, you might lose the information on the phone.

Aside from bringing the Galaxy S III software to version Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the update adds Galaxy Gear support and Samsung KNOX compatibility. The following improvements and new features have been added as well:

- TRIM support; - Core UI elements updated to the ones on the Galaxy S4; - New Samsung Keyboard; - Updated GPU drivers; - New Lockscreen: multiple widgets, improved ripple effect, ability to change clock size and set a personal message; - New Screen modes: adapt display and professional photo; - Daydream; - Driving mode - Actionable notifications; - Move-to-SD-card feature; - New Camera mode: Sound and Shot; - New additions in Notification Centre; - Completely revamped Settings UI; - Implementation of Voice controls; - New Samsung Apps: Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, Music; - Full screen Samsung apps; - New S-Voice.
