South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics might have delayed the release of Samsung Galaxy S II, the successor of the popular Galaxy S device that landed on shelves last year, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest. Apparently, the smartphone is now expected to arrive on shelve on May 1st, at least when the Australian market is concerned.

Recently, Samsung Romania said that the device would arrive on shelves in the country in April, which contradicts the new report.

However, the device is expected to become available in the UK in May as well, at least this is what some of the retailers in the country suggest.

Moreover, the new mobile phone might be release only in a 16GB flavor, although it was initially announced to arrive in 32GB versions as well.

The 32GB flavor of the high-end device might have been canceled over increased costs, it seems.

Apparently, Samsung decided that the profit from selling the 32GB version of Galaxy S II was too low compared to production cost, and decided to scrap the model.

However, no official confirmation on this emerged for the time being, and we should wait for a formal announcement to be made before knowing for sure whether things are indeed this way or not.

The new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone was announced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with Google's Android operating system on board, and with powerful hardware packed inside.

The handset sports a dual-core application processor, a large Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display, an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, the aforementioned amount of internal memory, and microSD card slot for additional storage space.

It also includes 3G (HSPA+ 21Mbps), WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, MHL port, 3.5mm headset jack, GPS receiver, fast Internet browsing, and support for applications available for download from the Android Market.
