The highly-anticipated Galaxy S II has just been officially introduced by Samsung in Pakistan. The Korean handset manufacturer hopes to build on the success of the original Galaxy S, which was sold in more than 14 million units since June 2010.

Although Samsung has yet to announce the smartphone's launch date, rumors point to a late May or early June release.

The Galaxy S II is built on Samsung's next-generation TouchWiz UX technology and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread out-of-the-box.

The phone introduces Live Panel, a customizable home-screen for live web and applications aggregated in a Magazine-like layout, as well as Motion UI, in which the screen lays out in perspective depending on a user's pull and push.

Equipped with a powerful 1.2GHz dual-core processor, HSPA+ connectivity that provides data transfer of up to 21Mbps, as well as a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus touch screen display, the Galaxy S II is a real beast.

Samsung Pakistan's Managing Director, Hee Chang Yee, said “The GALAXY S II would continue the success achieved by Samsung in the Smartphone market in 2010, to meet the ever-changing needs of consumers. And take Samsung's leadership in speed, screen and content to a whole new level.”

In addition, the device offers easy access to Samsung Apps, Social Hub and Readers Hub, social networking with a collection of magazines, books and newspapers.

Business users will be able to use the Enterprise-Mobility solution that brings capabilities such as video conferencing, security and virtual workspace.

Samsung Galaxy S II will be delivered with cutting-edge NFC technology and a gyroscopic sensor enabling precise gaming experience.

The phone boasts a superior 8-megapixel camera and camcorder with 1080p full HD recording and playback and is powered by a 1650mAh high-capacity battery.

No word on the Galaxy S II's price tag yet, but Samsung promised more details as the phone nears its launch. Stay tuned for more updates on the subject.
