Popular electronics retailer RadioShack is offering a trade-in deal for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G to lure in Android fans and customers who need high data transfer speeds.

The Galaxy S 4G is available starting this week for $149.99 (new customers) or for $199.99 (upgrades). Those who purchase it will also receive a $20 gift card.

What's really interesting is the fact that the $20 gift card can be used for the purchase of the smartphone, thus further lowering its price.

The gift card was initially meant to be used for various accessories that the user might need with the phone of his choice.

However, anonymous sources cited by the guys over at TmoNews say that the $20 gift card can be used to slash the prices of the phones, as well.

The deal gets even better for T-Mobile customers who own one of the carrier's devices and are willing to trade it in.

RadioShack is now offering a $50 cut from the price of the new phone purchased, regardless of the traded-in device.

As long as it is in working condition, the trade-in credit is taken off instantly, so customers can purchase the Galaxy S 4G for as low as $79.99, after adding the $20 gift card.

Obviously, the price without any plan activation remains the same, so customers who wish to avoid being tied to a two-year plan can purchase the Galaxy S 4G for $599.99.

Verizon customers who want to purchase the Galaxy S 4G will have to wait a bit longer, as the carrier has delayed the release of the device until the end of the month.

Apparently, the reason behind the postponing of the smartphone is Verizon’s decision to launch the Galaxy S 4G along with the HTC Thunderbolt, which is supposed to feature Skype video-calling.
