The Galaxy Q is no news for Canadians as the smartphone is already available for purchase at various carriers across the country, including Fido, Mobilicity and WIND Mobile.

The latest operator to pick the Galaxy Q is Videotron. Customers can now purchase the smartphone for a reduced price of $39.95 CAD for $239.95 CAD outright.

Samsung Galaxy Q combines the advantages of a full QWERTY keyboard with the blazing fast speeds and impressive features of the Android mobile platform.

Unveiled back in August, the smartphone was initially delivered with Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board, but Samsung deployed a Gingerbread update in the meantime, so Videotron customers can be sure they will get it with Android 2.3 onboard.

On top of the stock Android OS, Samsung integrated its own proprietary TouchWiz UI, which might not be pleasing for some customers who prefer simplicity above all else.

Another strong point of the device is the full slide-out QWERTY keyboard that is perfect for those who write often to their friends.

In addition, Galaxy Q provides quick access to thousands of applications and games via Google Play Store, formerly known as Android Market.

Samsung’s Android phone also comes with pre-installed services such as Google Mobile, which allows users to access maps and other localization information.

The smartphone sports a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports only 320 x 480 pixels resolution. On the back, the Galaxy Q packs a 3-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash and video recorder.

Although the Galaxy Q embeds only 170MB of internal memory, storage amount can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

It is also worth mentioning that the phone’s battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 240 hours of standby time or up to 4 hours of talk time. Check it out here.
