As expected, Samsung India has just announced the availability of the Galaxy Note Android smartphone in the country for Rs 34,500 ($700 or 510 EUR).

Samsung Galaxy Note was officially introduced in India last month, but only made it to the market today and is available for purchase for a pretty steep price.

However, the Galaxy Note is among the first smartphones to bring 5.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen capable of displaying 1280 x 800 pixels resolution.

Although LG has already announced that its Optimus LTE smartphone will be the first to offer an HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, Galaxy Note's larger display may be a bit better.

In addition, the Galaxy Note comes with a smart pen called S Pen, which can be used for various tasks while using certain compatible applications.

Even though the S Pen is currently limited to only a handful of apps that come bundled with the Galaxy Note, it appears that Samsung has big plans for its stylus and the technology behind it.

In this regard, the handset maker announced that it will release the S Pen SDK in December and a special category of apps will be created in its Samsung Applications store.

Samsung Galaxy Note is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform with TouchWiz 4.0 user interface on top.

It will be interesting to see if Samsung will deploy the latest Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade to all Galaxy Note devices in the future, as that will make the phone even more appealing given the fact that Android 4.0 will enable its hardware acceleration.

All in all, the Galaxy Note is quite a beast when it comes to hardware, as the smartphone is equipped with a 1.4 GHz dual core Exynos processor and a Mali-400MP graphics processing unit.

Furthermore, the phone packs 16GB/32 GB storage, 1 GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

On the back, the device boasts an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, while on the front there's a 2-megapixel camera for video chats.
