It looks like Samsung fancies the idea of a smaller, but still big, Galaxy Note 3, which will receive the Lite tag onto its name. Although the smartphone’s specs sheet has yet to be definitive, word on Samsung’s plans for the unannounced Galaxy Note 3 Lite have already surfaced online.

SamMobile reports that their insider can confirm that Samsung is now looking to offer both premium and budget-friendly versions of its phablets and flagship smartphones.

The Galaxy Note 3 will be one of the first phablets to receive a cheaper version, which is now dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite.

According to the cited source, Samsung plans to announce the lighter version of the phablet next year at Mobile World Congress 2014, in Barcelona, Spain.

Little is known about Galaxy Note 3 Lite, but SamMobile’s insider could confirm that the phone’s codename is Samsung SM-N7505 and that it will be available on the market in both black and white color options.

Luckily, a mysterious Samsung device with the same model number leaked a while ago in some shipping manifests, but the info mentions that the SM-N7505 could boast a 5.49- or 5.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

Previous rumors have also suggested that the Galaxy Note 3 Lite might sport an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, downgraded from the 13-megapixel photo snapper included in the standard model.

The Super AMOLED technology might be replaced with the simple LCD to reduce costs. In addition, the Galaxy Note 3 Lite might be equipped with a less powerful, but still decent processor.

Even though the final specs of the Galaxy Note 3 Lite are yet to be unveiled by Samsung, we can safely assume that the smartphone’s hardware will be less powerful in comparison with the original model in order to keep the price lower. Stay tuned for more updates on the alleged Galaxy Note 3 Lite.
