What sets the Samsung Galaxy NX camera apart from other devices coming with relatively similar specifications is the fact that it takes advantage of the Android operating system.

Because of its atypical snapper status arriving with a pretty steep price tag, the camera was unlikely to attract a lot of customers from the get-go. So in order to show the capabilities of the camera, Samsung decided to go a little crazy and built the NASA Exploration Rover inspired, NX Rover – a device designed to carry the Galaxy NX.

But Sammy didn't ship out the little fellow into space to collect data about alien planets. Instead, it mounted the Galaxy NX on top of it and sent it off to photograph points of interest throughout Europe.

If you’re curious to see what those places were, Samsung is offering to give you a glimpse at the NX Rover’s adventure through its official website.

You'll be able to see the NX Rover is quite hip and it visited the popular Game of Thrones site and snapped a few fancy, fantasy-inspired photographs while being there.

It also met Germany’s most popular football team, Bayern München, and travelled to Rome or Iceland. It even arrived to London in time to be part of the Super Comic Con show. Last but not least, our little traveler arrived in Cannes, where it was nominated in the innovation category at the Cannes Lions.

The NX Rover met a lot of people and most of them were quite happy to get their picture taken with the gizmo. As the images were snapped, they were immediately uploaded via the camera’s Wi-Fi.

You might not remember the specifications of the device at this point, so we’re going to take the opportunity and walk you through them. The Galaxy NX arrives with a 20.3MP sensor, 1/6000 sec shutter and 8.6fps shooting.

Under the hood, keeping things alive and working lies a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.6GHz fitted with 2GB of RAM. We already mentioned above, the camera is atypical because it runs Android and the specific version is 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Furthermore, the camera takes advantage of your usual Android features, such as Google apps or S Voice and more. The camera bundles a 4.8-inch HD TFT display, microSD card and 16GB of internal storage to store all the images you have snapped.

As good as this might sound to you, the Galaxy NX currently sells for quite a chunky price tag and you’ll need to take out $1,249 / €946 out of your account to be able to grab it.
