Unveiled earlier this year at the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung's mid-range Galaxy smartphones have been introduced in most regions of the world.

The Galaxy Gio is one of the last devices from the lineup to make its debut in the U.K. via major retailer Expansys.

Customers who wish to purchase the mid-entry smartphone will have to pay exactly £161.99 upfront to get it SIM-free and unlocked.

Furthermore, the retailer also throws in free delivery in 3-4 days if the device is ordered by 6pm, but those who want it fast can get it the next day available by paying an extra shipping fee of £5.99.

Samsung Galaxy Gio is not the ultimate Android smartphone can be a good choice for those with low budgets. Of course, that if they can get passed the fact that the device comes with Android 2.2 Froyo and has average features.

The phone is equipped with a single core 800MHz processor and sports a standard 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, geo-tagging, smile detection and video recording capabilities (QVGA@15fps).

Obviously, the handset does not feature a secondary front-facing camera for video calls, instead it offers HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, including Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

With only 158 MB of internal memory, potential customers should buy an extra microSD memory card, though the phone is delivered with a 2GB memory card in the sales package.

The Galaxy Gio comes with a mid-size 3.2-inch multi-touch capacitive display with 16 million colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution, as well as accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

The phone is powered by a standard 1350 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 610 hours (460 hours for 3G) of standby time or up to 11 hours (7 hours for 3G) of talk time.
