The smartphone has been spotted at Flipkart India

The Galaxy Core Prime is the next affordable Android smartphone coming from South Korean handset maker Samsung. This is the second “Prime” series device Samsung has been planning to launch in the last couple of weeks after the company introduced the Galaxy Grand Prime in India earlier this month.

The unannounced smartphone was briefly listed at Indian retailer Flipkart with a price tag of Rs 8,500 attached to it. But this is not the only place where the Galaxy Core Prime was spotted recently, as the handset seems to have been certified at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory communications commission.

Furthermore, multiple Galaxy Core Prime variants will be launched by Samsung, so depending on region, you might be able to get one or another of these versions. As expected, there will be single-SIM and dual-SIM variants, but also LTE and 3G versions as well.

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime comes with a decent 4.5-inch PLS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution.

Keep in mind though that the specs listed at Flipkart may not be final, so take this info with a small tint of salt until Samsung goes official with the Galaxy Core Prime.

Moving on to Galaxy Core Prime hardware, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which is probably provided by Qualcomm.

Even though it could cost less than $150 (€120) outright, the upcoming affordable handset packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

A dual-SIM version of the Galaxy Core Prime will be launched as well

In addition, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera that can capture full HD (1080p) pictures, as well as secondary front-facing 2-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

We also know that the device will be powered by a 2,000 mAh removable battery, which is more than decent, considering that the Galaxy Core Prime doesn’t pack any energy-hungry hardware.

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime will be released internationally, but as mentioned earlier, depending on region, the following models will be available for purchase: SM-G3606, G3608, and G3609.

Each of these will have slightly different specs like LTE and dual-SIM, but the rest of the hardware is likely to be the same.

We’re not sure why the Galaxy Core Prime will be released given the fact that Samsung already has two smartphones with similar specs, such as the Galaxy Core LTE and the Lite version of it. Oh well, the more options, the better for customers.
