One of the latest Android-based mobile phones to make it into the wild from South Korean handset vendor Samsung is the Galaxy Apollo, spotted a couple of days ago on Samsung's UK website, and now listed as “coming soon” at Orange UK. The wireless carrier has put in place a page for Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 Black, which should be none other than the handset spotted not to long ago at Samsung.

Here's what Orange has to say about the new device: “Want a phone that combines fun and functionality? Then try the Samsung Galaxy Apollo. Along with being an Android phone, it has a large 3.2-inch touch screen and quick access to all your social networks. Don't forget to send in photos captured on the 3-megapixel camera. With up to 1GB external memory, you've also got plenty of room to store music.”

The specifications list of the new Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 includes a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 3-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and 4x digital zoom, 3G connectivity options, coupled with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, along with USB compatibility. The new device also includes FM radio and MP3 player, along with MMS, video messaging and email capabilities.

The Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 measures 115 x 57 x 13 mm and weighs in at 113g. The battery that powers it can provide up to 9 hours of talk time or up to 24 days of standby time, the wireless carrier states. The handset comes with a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, with a memory card of unknown capacity included in the package.

Unfortunately, Orange does not offer specific details on when the Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 is set to become available for purchase, though it does say that the device should land as free on certain pay monthly plans. Pay as you go users should have the possibility to purchase the handset too, yet no details on its price tag are known at the moment. You can check on Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 at Orange UK here.
