The Galaxy Ace 2 is the first Android smartphone to feature an under 1GHz dual-core processor. It was officially introduced last month, ahead of Mobile World Congress 2012, but has yet to make its debut on the market.

Although the smartphone was listed by several UK-based retailers one week after the official announcement, it appears that the pre-order price dropped after only one month since its launch.

The folks over at UnwiredView have learned that Unlocked Mobiles, a UK retailer is now taking pre-orders for Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.

Customers can pre-purchase the smartphone for only £250 (390 USD or 300 EUR), though the retailer asked about £280 (440 USD or 340 EUR) three weeks ago.

Anyway, the retailer confirms Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 will start shipping from April 23. With more than a month until its release on the market, the smartphone might go even cheaper as we near launch.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and TouchWiz 3.0 UI, but given its hardware configuration, it might receive an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in the following months.

In addition, the handset comes pre-loaded with a range of Samsung ‘Hubs’ including social games and music, which provides users with enough entertainment and productivity features.

The smartphone is equipped with an 800 MHz dual-core processor, which is probably the main selling point of Galaxy Ace 2. It also packs 4GB onboard memory, 768MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The Galaxy Ace 2 sports a decent 3.8-inch PLS capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors. There’s also a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.
