The first details on Samsung Galaxy A8's spec sheet leaked online about two months ago, but we had no picture of the actual device and no way to tell whether or not the info was accurate.

Today, at least some of the initial information has been confirmed because the first live pictures of the Samsung Galaxy A8 have just popped up online courtesy of French blog Nowhereelse.

First of all, the Galaxy A8 is pictured near the Galaxy A7, and judging by the size of the display, the former will pack a huge 5.7-inch screen.

That's in line with the latest rumors dating from last month, which suggest that Samsung Galaxy A8 will boast a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

Unlike most smartphones in the Galaxy A series that feature a rectangular form factor, the Galaxy A8 has rounded edges and looks more like a Galaxy S3 rather than the Galaxy Alpha.

The Home button is more rounded as well, to come in line with the overall form factor, but also slightly larger to accommodate the fingerprint scanner.

Thin bezels and metal frame

The bezels are very thin and the metal frame that's standard for Galaxy A smartphones is present on the Galaxy A8 as well.

The pictures also reveal that the main camera on the back features LED flash and that the speaker has been placed to the left side of the photo snapper.

Apart from that, there's nothing else that could confirm all the information leaked last month in regards to the Galaxy A8’s specs.

For those out of the loop, here is a quick recap. First of all, the smartphone runs the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system and comes with the latest version of TouchWiz UI.

It should be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded via microSD card slot.

Also, the 16-megapixel camera on the back will be complemented by a secondary 5-megapixel camera on the front, which should be good enough for great selfies.

We also know that Samsung Galaxy A8 should be powered by a rather large 3,050 mAh battery and that it will weigh around 140g (battery included).

Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing options and availability, but we expect more details on the matter to emerge in the coming months, so stay tuned.
