Mobile phone carrier Vodafone UK is gearing up for the release of the new Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 tablet PC, and has already placed a coming soon page for this device on its website.

This is the second version of the large tablet PC, the one that was unveiled in at CTIA Wireless in March along with the Galaxy Tab 8.9 slate, and not the device launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The original flavor of the slate came with a thicker body, and was also a little heavier. Samsung launched it in collaboration with Vodafone, and changed its name to Galaxy Tab 10.1v when announcing the newer device.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 that can be seen on Vodafone's coming soon section here is the slimmer, lighter tablet PC, though it features about the same specs as the original.

The slate is powered by a fast dual-core application processor, sports the large 10.1-inch touchscreen display (boasting a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution), measures only 8.6mm thick, and weighs in at 595g.

The Android 3.1 Honeycomb-powered device was launched with a 1GHz application processor inside, though Vodafone lists it with a 1.2GHz CPU, the same as the newly made available Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone.

The specifications list of the new device would also include a 3-megapixel camera on the back with video recording capabilities, a 2MP camera on the front for video chat, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities.

The tablet comes in two flavors, differentiated by the available internal memory, namely 16GB and 32GB.

“When you're watching movies (or video clips on the web), you'll love the clarity of the massive 10.1" screen,” Vodafone notes.

“And if you know Android from your smartphone, you'll be impressed by the improvements that make it smooth and effortless on the Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 - plus cool things like 3D effects as you swipe between homescreens.”

No specific info on when would the new device arrive on shelves at Vodafone emerged, but it seems that it would completely replace the aforementioned Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1v in the carrier's offering.
