We reported last week that SaskTel plans to launch the Galaxy S II HD LTE, though we weren’t aware that the carrier intends to release it so soon.

The Canadian carrier has just outed the smartphone, though its LTE network has yet to be launched. Customers can purchase the Galaxy S II HD LTE for as low as $129.99 CAD with a new three-year agreement.

Those who are not willing to commit to a long-term contract or prefer to grab it on prepaid can get it for $569.99 CAD upfront.

Additional pricing options are available for customers who cannot afford the full price, but don’t want to commit to a three-year agreement either.

For these consumers, Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE is available for $469.99 CAD on a 2-year term or $519.99 with a new one-year contract.

Keep in mind that while the smartphone embeds LTE support, SaskTel Galaxy S II HD LTE will be throttled down to HSPA+ speeds until the carrier launches its own LTE network, possible in Q3 2012.

Although Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform out of the box, the South Korean company confirmed an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade would be available in the following weeks.

On a side note, SaskTel recently released the long-awaited Android 4.0 ICS update for Samsung Galaxy S II.

As the name suggests, the smartphone boasts an impressive 4.65-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution. The screen features Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra protection.

Hardware-wise, Galaxy S II HD LTE packs a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which is complemented by an Adreno 220 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

There’s also 16GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. Samsung noted that the smartphone would be delivered with a free 8GB memory card in the sales package, but SaskTel has yet to confirm it.
