There have been lots of rumors claiming the next Samsung Galaxy Note III will boast a huge 6.3-inch display, especially in the light of the new gamepad accessory for Galaxy S 4 that has just been announced.

Given the fact the gamepad for Galaxy S 4 supports smartphones with displays of up to 6.3 inch, we thought Samsung was working on the next Galaxy Note handset that is likely to boast such a large screen.

Today, the folks over at UnwiredView spotted an article on Koreatimes, which claims Samsung is going to show the upcoming Galaxy Note III to AT&T execs later this week.

The said device will be a mere mock-up of the future device and will boast a pretty large 5.9-inch display. That’s about 0.4-inch larger than the newest Galaxy Note smartphone and 0.4-inch smaller than the rumored Galaxy Note III.

However, aside from the fact that the device will sport a 5.9-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution, there are no details regarding the Galaxy Note III’s hardware specs.

According to the cited source, the mock-up will not feature any chips inside though rumor has it Galaxy Note III will pack the same Exynos 5410 Octa chipset with two quad-core processors.

Anyway, Koreatimes says the Galaxy Note III prototype will be showcased for some AT&T execs, such as the chief marketing officer, in order to discuss the future marketing strategy for the upcoming superphone.

In the same piece of news, it appears that Samsung is indeed working on a 6.3-inch smartphone, but it will not be the Galaxy Note III.

Instead, Samsung plans to take on the likes of Huawei with its Ascend Mate phablet, by releasing a budget friendly Android phone that will sport a huge 6.3-inch display.

The display will be of LCD quality, as Samsung wants to keep the OLED displays restricted to its high-end devices. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
