14 DAY TRIAL // The Galaxy Note is already available for purchase in Canada, but regional carrier tbaytel insists on bringing the phablet to its customers as well.
The carrier decided to team up with Rogers to bring the Galaxy Note to Thunder Bay. The folks over at MobileSyrup managed to get their hands on an internal document which suggests that the smartphone will be available for purchase for only $199.99 (150 EUR) with a new three-year agreement.
The phone’s suggested retail price is set to $699.99 (535 EUR), while the two-year plan option is priced at $399.99 (305 EUR). In addition, tbaytel offers the Galaxy Note for $599.99 (460 EUR) with a new one-year agreement.
The smartphone will be shipped with the innovative S-Pen stylus, which allows users to interact with the Galaxy Note without leaving a fingerprint on its screen. Aside from typical touch screen commands, the stylus enables users make quick notes, draw or edit.
It is also worth mentioning that Samsung Galaxy Note comes with several apps especially optimized for the S-Pen. More compatible apps are available for download via Samsung Apps.
tbaytel’s Galaxy Note is equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and packs 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot (up to 32GB, 2GB memory included).
However, the main difference between Rogers and tbaytel Galaxy Note is the data speed support. Given the fact that tybatel does not have a 4G LTE network, Samsung Galaxy Note will be limited to HSPA+ 4G speeds which enables download speeds up to 21Mbps.
Although similar in specs with other carrier-bound models available in Canada, tbytel’s Galaxy Note features a hyper-vibrant 5.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.
The smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but Samsung confirmed it would deploy an Ice Cream Sandwich update sometime in Q2 2012.
