A candybar QWERTY device

Mobile phone carrier Alltel Wireless and Samsung Mobile announced on Thursday the launch of a new mobile phone on the operator's airwaves, the Samsung Freeform. The new candybar device comes to the market with a sleek and stylish design, while also including a series of features meant to appeal to Alltel's users.

The Samsung Freeform sports a 2.2-inch QCIF color display that delivers support for 262K colors, along with a four-row QWERTY keyboard, providing users with an array of messaging options especially designed for them, such as threaded text entry, which enables them to send text messages instantly. At the same time, the new mobile phone also comes with easy access to favorite applications through clicking on customizable navigation keys.

In addition to the Slim Bar Design and the four-row QWERTY keyboard, the new mobile phone also comes in Teal and Burgundy color options, and includes Stereo Bluetooth Wireless Technology, as well as a microSD memory card slot so that users can expand the available memory to up to 16GB. Various wallpaper and ringtones options are also available for the new mobile phone though Alltel's shop, and users will be able to customize their handset through downloading games, ringtones and wallpapers.

Other specifications on the new Samsung Freeform also include multiple Messaging Options with Threaded Text Messaging, web capabilities, built-in GPS receiver with support for Alltel Navigation, Speakerphone, Voice Recognition, as well as a Music Player and the possibility to create custom playlists, all packed within a device that measures 2.4 x 4.42 x 0.50 inches in size.
