Verizon's own branded Galaxy S smartphone is about to receive a new minor software upgrade that is supposed to improve a few features of the handset.

Recently upgraded to Android 2.2 Froyo, Samsung Fascinate was launched by Verizon last year in September with the promise that the phone will get its software updates as fast as possible.

It appears that Verizon managed to deliver the major update only in April, as Froyo was rolled out OTA (over-the-air) to Fascinate users.

However, it appears that are more things that need to be fixed or improved when it comes to Samsung Fascinate.

Fortunately, Verizon and Samsung are listening from time to time and Fascinate users are 'blessed' with maintenance software updates that are meant to address some of the issues as they are discovered.

The latest software update is tagged with the code number i500.ED04 and is delivered OTA (over-the-air) to make things easier for users.

Although the update does not bring new features to Fascinate owners, it is recommended to install it in order to be able to continue to receive other important updates as they are rolled out.

The new software update i500.ED04 has been released to improve the OTA capability of the phone as well as the call connectivity:

Enhancements:

- Improvements to the delivery of Over The Air (OTA) Software Updates; - Improved incoming call connectivity.

The update has a whooping of 98 MB, which means that it will take around 15 minutes to download it, depending on the network conditions, and around 5-6 minutes to install it.

Fascinate users can either wait for the notification to pop-up on their display or they can check out for the update themselves.

Simply tap on the Settings menu and go to About phone / System Updates and click on the Check New.
