It's becoming quite clear that Smart TVs, designed to offer users access to a wide array of online content (beside TV programs, of course), will become standard over the next couple of years, requiring some specialized accessories in order to work properly, and it seems that Samsung's ready for the task, since an FCC filling has just revealed what future Samsung Smart HDTV owners can expect in terms of control options. So, as Engadget reports, this accessory, known by its codename, RMC-QTD1, that's just popped up in a couple of very interesting photos on the FCC site, uses Bluetooth technology in order to control a TV's functionality and sports quite an unusual design, that will allow users access to a host of interesting and useful features.

So, what really makes this thing stand out is the fact that it has standard buttons on one side and a full QWERTY keyboard on the other, which makes it resemble, to some extent, the remote unit controlling Boxee Box set-top boxes.

Additionally, the device also sports a very small display placed on the side featuring the QWERTY keyboard, although its purpose is not immediately clear (after all, we're talking about a 1-line screen, with very little space to provide users with useful information).

Plus, it's also quite likely that the Smart TV platform employed by the Samsung HDTVs the RMC-QTD1 has been designed to work with won't be Google TV, but rather the one introduced by Yahoo a while ago (this supposition gets some serious backing by the Yahoo! button we've spotted on the remote's side).

Unfortunately, this is all we have on this topic for the time being, and we really hope that Samsung will come up with more details on this controller before actually starting to ship it alongside its 2011 Smart HDTV lineup.
