We reported earlier today about Samsung's attempt to get more attendees to its Galaxy S6 launch event in China by hiring “fans” of the brand.

The media report claimed Samsung hired no less than 500 “fans” to attend its Galaxy S6 launch event in the Mainland, each being paid with 30 yuan ($4.80) for spending a little more than one hour.

At the same time, those who hired these “fanboys” were paid by Samsung with 20 yuan ($3.20) for each person recruited, which makes for a nice amount in the end.

Apart from those 500 people especially hired for this event, Samsung was also said to have recruited several groups of 20 to 30 people as professional fans. They were paid slightly more and were asked to remain at the event for a little more than 15 minutes.

Given the fact that the media report spread all over the Internet pretty quick, Samsung has issued a statement regarding these allegations.

Obviously, the South Korean company denies any implications in the hiring of “fanboys” for its Galaxy S6 launch event.

“Samsung investigated a media report on April 3 that claimed people were temporarily hired and paid to attend the Galaxy S6 launching event in Shanghai, China and later found that the story was totally groundless and bogus.”

Samsung will continue to inquire about how the original story came to be

Furthermore, Samsung claims that it hasn't found any proofs that anyone has been hired or given money to attend the launch event.

The South Korean company says that more than 1,100 attendees, including consumers and industry officials, have all been formally invited to the Shanghai Culture Square where the Galaxy S6 launch event took place.

Samsung also says that it's now “considering whether to request the media outlet to take further action in the matter by issuing a correction. We will also continue our efforts to find out how this story came to be.”
