Compal won't be making any more laptops for this particular customer

Acer isn't the only company feeling the strain of reduced consumer interest in personal computers, desktops and laptops alike.

Samsung is suffering too, to the point where it has drastically reduced its laptop shipment forecast for the whole year.

Originally, it hoped to ship 14.5 to 16.3 million units between January and December 2013.

It no longer believes that to be possible though, so it has cut the forecast to 13 million or so.

Normally, corporations would shear off a bit on all manufacturing orders, but this time Samsung decided to be a bit more direct and drop a supplier altogether.

According to Digitimes, which in turn got the info from Chinese website Economic Daily News (EDN), Compal is the one getting the boot.

Currently, it is producing 8-10% of Samsung's notebooks, so one can see why such a move would harm it.

Samsung will compensate for the differences by increasing in-house production.
