The messaging phone is already available at US Cellular

US-based carrier Cricket is about to launch a new messaging phone, Samsung Comment II. The sequel to Samsung Comment, which made its debut on the carrier’s airwave last summer, the new device features the same bar form factor.

Although the handset has yet to be listed on Cricket’s online store, rumor has it that Samsung Comment II will be available for purchase for under $100 USD.

The previous model was available for only $90 USD (plus tax) at launch, which makes us believe the sequel will be priced around the same amount. Cricket currently sells the original Comment for just $39.99 USD.

Given the fact that Samsung Comment II is a messaging phone, it comes with full QWERTY keyboard, which helps users to achieve quicker and more accurate typing.

The rest of the phone’s features are completely unimpressive. In fact, Samsung Comment II can be tagged as an entry-level feature-phone aimed at those who don’t want to rob the bank to purchase a new handset.

Just like the previous model, Samsung Comment II comes with a small 2.4-inch TFT display that supports 480 x 320 pixels resolution and 262k colors. It’s likely to pack around 100MB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

On the back, the budget-friendly feature-phone sports a sub-par 2-megapixel camera, which, believe it or not, is an improvement from the original Comment handset that features a slightly lower 1.3-megapixel photo snapper.

Samsung Comment II comes with Bluetooth and microUSB support and probably built-in GPS receiver, though the latter has yet to be confirmed.

In the same piece of news, Samsung Comment II is already available in the United States from US Cellular, but the phone is known as Samsung Freeform 4. There are no differences between the two carrier-bounded, so you can choose either of these.
